Blink-182 covered Chappell Roan‘s ‘Pink Pony Club’ during their Lollapalooza headline performance.
Vocalist and bassist Mark Hoppus interpolated ‘Pink Pony Club’ into their performance of ‘Dammit’, singing the chorus before smoothly swinging back into their own song on the line “Well I guess that’s growing up”.
It wasn’t the only cover to appear in the set – they also took on ‘When Your Heart Stops Beating’ by Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker‘s hiatus project +44, as well as ‘There Is’ by Barker and Tom DeLonge‘s side project Box Car Racer.
Roan herself had performed earlier on at the festival, drawing a massive crowd for her set. She came out dressed in lucha libre attire – a popular form of wrestling originating in Mexico, which sees its wrestlers wearing masks to conceal their real-life identities.

In an interview for NME The Cover earlier this year, Roan discussed the origins of ‘Pink Pony Club’, which she originally dropped in 2020. It baffled her label, to the point that they dropped her a few months later. She later signed to Island Records in early 2023.
“It was a hard left turn from my original EP [2017’s ‘School Nights’], which was really dark, angsty pop that was pretty boring,” Roan said. “I had a very small fan base, but they were scared I would lose it. And sure I lost a few people, but I gained so many more – and it was a new community that I was now in. But I don’t think [the label] believed in me.”
blink-182 will headline Reading & Leeds festival this year alongside Liam Gallagher, Lana Del Rey, Fred Again.., Gerry Cinnamon and Catfish & The Bottlemen.
In other news, Barker recently sold off his boarding pass from his recent trip to Australia for charity in recognition of him conquering his fear of flying.
