Hinds team up with Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten for chilled new single ‘Stranger’

"'Stranger’ contains the toughest theme we sing about in 'Viva Hinds'. Feeling the heaviness of existence and not recognising your own self. Fontaines D.C. taught us to embrace that darkness"

Hinds have enlisted Fontaines D.C.‘s Grian Chatten for a dreamy new single, ‘Stranger’.

The release of the track coincides with the release of the Spanish band’s new album ‘VIVA HINDS’, which also features the singles ‘Boom Boom Back’ featuring Beck, ‘The Bed, The Room, The Rain and You’ and their first ever Spanish single ‘En Forma’.

On the subject of the collaboration, Hinds said: “Grian is a good old friend. We met in Dublin when we played together in one of their first shows as Fontaines.

“We have so much love and admiration between bands, and they all have been such a big support for us in the last years. ’Stranger’ contains the toughest theme we sing about in ‘Viva Hinds’. Feeling the heaviness of existence and not recognising your own self. Fontaines D.C. taught us to embrace that darkness.”

In other news, last year Hinds announced the departure of bassist Ade Martín and drummer Amber Grimbergen, sharing in an Instagram post “You might feel as heartbroken as we felt, but luckily music has the power to heal an aching soul,” they wrote.

“We’ve been through something very hurtful but we’re gonna carry on: we believe in Hinds more than anything in the world. If you’re in, we are in.”
