NME attended an event at the festival, where acts taking part in the boycott declared: "We as Irish people have a lot of solidarity with the people of Palestine as we share a history of occupation and oppression by colonialist countries"

The bands all pulled out after learning that the US Army was a "super sponsor" of the event

The statement comes after Texas governor Gregg Abbott told boycotting bands not to "come back"

"We stand in complete solidarity with Palestine and others who have spoke out against, and boycotted SXSW"
